Small Business Idea #503:
Earn Extra Cash Caring For Pets

Small Business Ideas and OpportunitiesBy Craig Wallin

You enjoy spending time with your pets. The love and companionship you get from a pet is second to none. Spending time with a pet can mean more exercise for you, in addition to lower blood pressure and stress. We’d all like that. So if only there was a way you could turn your love for pets into a way to make extra money. But then again, you don’t want to go back to school to become a veterinarian or work at an animal shelter or something like that. You’d just like to give them the love and attention they deserve and be your own boss, working when you want to. Well, that’s all possible by becoming a pet sitter.

Pet owners often go out of town or are away from home for an extended period of time, leaving them unable to feed the pet or give it the attention it deserves during the day. Many don’t feel comfortable leaving their pets at a kennel as these can have diseases or be an upsetting environment for their pet. That’s where you come in. Pet sitters visit a pet owner’s home and engage in normal, everyday pet tasks, such as feeding, taking pets outside for a bathroom break or walk, and giving them some love and care. That sounds easy, right? If you already have a pet you do this everyday now!

So how much do you stand to make? Pet sitters make between $12 and $22 a visit. The national average is $16 a visit. Most visits take half an hour or less, meaning you could be making over $30 an hour. Wow! Plus, most pet owners will want you to visit their pet two times a day, so with each job you get you can count on several visits being scheduled. Those profits are starting to go up!

And don’t forget, you’re the boss. You charge what you want to charge and you work when you want to. It’s a great second job or a whole new career, the perfect way to turn your hobby into a profitable job.

Best of all, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recognizes pet sitting as a growing field expected to rise 22 percent a year. Combined, in the United States there are 160 million cats and dogs, not to mention other animals such as birds, fish, and reptiles, which means a lot of potential pet sitting work for you.

By starting your own pet sitting service you can turn your hobby into a profitable way to spend your time. It can be a great way to make some extra cash or could become a whole new career where you’re the boss and you work when you want to work. Pets deserve love and attention, and you could be the one to give them that. To learn more, read Profitable Pet Sitting, available only at: http://extraincomebulletin.com
