Small Business Idea #374:
How To Start An eBay Business - Seven Essential Steps To Show You How To Start An eBay Business

Small Business Ideas and Opportunities

By Ann Taylor

Starting an eBay business can seem like a daunting process when you’re new to online selling. By following these seven steps, you should be able to start an ebay business in no time & avoid many of the pitfalls along the way.

1. Register with eBay & choose a good eBay ID.

It is completely free to register with eBay & only takes a few minutes to fill out the registration form. When choosing your eBay ID, make sure you choose something that will be easy for your customers to remember, & don’t use your eBay ID for your email address ie. Ebayid@hotmail.com. Spammers work this out pretty quickly & before long your email account will be filling up with spam.

2. Make sure you’re up to speed on tax & business requirements in your state.

Many people do run their eBay businesses on the side & don’t let the tax office know what they’re doing. This is very risky & something I wouldn’t recommend you do. In most countries it’s much easier & cheaper than you think to run your business with the government’s knowledge.

3. Buy a few items to get a feel of how things work & build your feedback.

Buyers are very suspicious of purchasing from someone with no feedback, so you’re best off buying a few things from other people first to build your feedback.

4. Sell items from around home to build your selling feedback & get experience.

Once you have a bit of positive feedback (20+ would be ideal, but even just a couple is better than nothing), you can start looking around your house for items to sell. This will help to build your feedback even more & give you some experience selling items on ebay before you start your eBay business properly.

5. Niche market research.

It’s no good trying to sell a product in a saturated market on eBay (like many electronics, DVD & clothing categories). Have a look in categories that you have an interest in & see if you can see a gap in the market.

6. Decide how you’ll be supplying your product.

Once you’ve decided what you’re going to sell you need to consider whether you’re going to make it yourself, buy from a wholesaler or find a drop shipper. If you decide to purchase from a wholesaler or drop shipper, your best bet is to check out some of the wholesaler & drop shipper directories on the net.

7. Start selling!

To discover how to find the best wholesalers & drop shippers for the products you want to sell on eBay visit WholesaleListNittyGritty.com.

WholesaleListNittyGritty.com is the only place on the net where you can find completely unbiased, honest consumer reviews of wholesaler & drop shipper lists like SaleHoo, WorldWide Brands, & more!
